CreaDMG is a program created to archive files into virtual disk images. It has many features: for example you can choose different image formats and options for compression, write protection and encryption.
iTar gives you a GNU tar frontend. Drag and drop files or folders into the image and get them archived in tar format and optionally compressed with gzip, bzip2 or unix compress.
